Home Inspector Licensing and Continuing Education Classes



Connecticut Home Inspection Licensing Board Information

i-Course is an approved continuing education provider for Connecticut.

Home inspectors are licensed in Connecticut by the Home Inspection Licensing Board, and to be eligible for a home inspector license you must:

  • Have completed high school or its equivalent
  • Earned a home inspector intern permit and performed at least 100 inspections - this includes 40 hours of course work
  • Have passed an exam
  • Paid the state its fees

The state requires a minimum of 40 hours of pre-licensing credits. Home inspectors shall takes courses consisting of at least twenty (20) continuing education hours in each two year continuing education period. For each two year continuing education period, the following course shall be mandated: One course consisting of at least three classroom hours in current home inspection legislation, licensing laws and regulations. Please note that we do not offer a course on Connecticut legislation, licensing or regulations. Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection practice legislation.
